Ireland Student Visa Process
Follow these steps when planning to study in Ireland:
Indian citizens are visa-required to study in Ireland for any course duration.
First, you must apply to and be accepted by a recognized Irish educational institution for a full-time course lasting at least 25 weeks.
You will receive a Letter of Acceptance, which is crucial for your visa application.
Go to the website of the Irish Immigration Service Delivery (ISD) and access the Automated Visa Application Tracking System (AVATS).
Complete the online application form accurately and truthfully.
After submission, you will need to print and sign the application summary sheet. This sheet will contain your application transaction number, which is important for future reference.
Gather all the necessary documents.
If you are resident in India, you will need to schedule an appointment with the Visa Facilitation Service (VFS Global).
At your appointment, you will submit your completed application form, supporting documents, and your biometric data (unless you are exempt).
You will also pay the visa application fee at VFS. The fee varies depending on whether you are applying for a single or multiple entry visa.
The visa fee must be paid. The amount will be specified on the VFS Global website or the Irish Embassy/Consulate website.
After submitting your application and documents, you will need to wait for the visa processing to be completed. Processing times can vary, so it's advisable to apply well in advance (at least 6-8 weeks before your travel date).
You can track the progress of your application online using the application transaction number provided by AVATS and VFS Global.
Once a decision has been made, you will be notified.
You will then need to collect your passport with the visa from the VFS Global center where you submitted your application, or it may be returned to you via courier (this is becoming a standard procedure).
