Digital SAT Test Format
The digital SAT has two main sections:
Reading and Writing
Math
The test follows an adaptive format:
Module 1: Includes a mix of easy, medium and hard questions.
Module 2: Your performance in Module 1 decides the difficulty level of Module 2, allowing for a more accurate score.
Total Testing Time: Approximately 2 hours and 14 minutes.
1. Reading and Writing Section
Total Time: 64 minutes
Number of Questions: 54 multiple-choice questions
Modules: Two 32-minute modules with 27 questions each
This section combines what were earlier separate Reading and Writing tests.
Shorter Passages: Instead of long passages, the digital SAT includes short texts (25–150 words), usually followed by one multiple-choice question.
Question Order: Questions generally move from easy to difficult within each skill area.
2. Math Section
Total Time: 70 minutes
Number of Questions: 44 questions
Modules: Two 35-minute modules with 22 questions each
Question Types
Around 75% multiple-choice questions
Around 25% student-produced (grid-in) responses
Calculator Policy
You may use a calculator for the entire Math section. A built-in graphing calculator is available in the Bluebook™ testing app, and you can also bring an approved personal calculator.
Question Order: Math questions usually progress from easier to more difficult within each module.
