Documents for the New Zealand Student Visa Application (Submitted to Immigration New Zealand):

Valid Passport: Your original passport, valid for at least three months beyond your intended stay.
Offer of Place: Official letter of acceptance from an NZQA-approved education provider.
Evidence of Tuition Fee Payment: Receipt or proof of payment of the tuition fees.
Proof of Funds: Evidence of sufficient funds to cover living expenses (currently NZD 20,000 per year of study, or NZD 17,000 for school years 1-13) and proof of the source of these funds
Medical Certificate and/or Chest X-ray Certificate: As required based on your duration of stay and country of origin, from an Immigration New Zealand panel doctor. Generally required for stays over 12 months.
Police Clearance Certificate(s): From your country of citizenship and any country where you’ve lived for more than 5 years since turning 17, if you are 17 or older and staying for more than 24 months.
Health Insurance Receipt: Proof of arranged medical and travel insurance valid for your stay.
Student Visa Application Form (INZ 1012): Completed and signed form (usually submitted online).
Passport-sized Photographs: Recent color photographs meeting the specified requirements.
Supplementary Information Form (if applicable): Based on your nationality.
Evidence of Genuine Intentions: Documentation and statements demonstrating that your primary purpose is to study and that you intend to comply with visa conditions and leave New Zealand after your studies.
Financial Undertaking Form and Affidavit of Support (if applicable): If you are financially sponsored.

Visa Process

Submit your application to the chosen institution. If your application is successful, you will receive an official Offer of Place.

Accept the Offer of Place and pay the required tuition fees to the institution. Obtain an official receipt as proof of payment.

Collect all the necessary documents for your visa application. This includes your passport, Offer of Place, tuition fee receipt, proof of funds, medical and police certificates (if required), health insurance details, and more (refer to the detailed list provided previously).

You can choose to apply online through the Immigration New Zealand (INZ) website or submit a paper application through a Visa Application Centre.

Online: Create an account on the INZ website and follow the online application process.
Paper: Download the student visa application form (INZ 1012) and submit it along with your documents at the designated Visa Application Centre (e.g., VFS Global).

Pay the required student visa application fee (currently NZD 375). This is usually done online for online applications or at the Visa Application Centre for paper applications.

Depending on your nationality, you may need to provide biometric information (fingerprints and photograph). You will be informed by Immigration New Zealand if this is necessary and where to provide it.

Immigration New Zealand will review your application and supporting documents.

If your application is approved, you will receive notification of your visa being granted. This might be in the form of a visa label in your passport or an e-visa.
